lights even when it’s not Christmas
still make my heart sparkle.
my boys this morning,
a bit down-in-the-mouth,
wanted snow that didn’t come
“look at the small ice flakes
– they’re snow scouts
to a big snow storm coming,” i said, still
finding joy in an early morning crystal
my boys stared, still
not appreciating this mom’s humor
i still believe
God redeems days,
dreams – and those easy and hard to love
mama’s hot chocolate warms souls to toes
still
and on some days, i miss
my grandmother and my grandfather,
and what life would have been like
with my little Gracie girl gone to heaven
5 acorns in a mason jar on a shelf
still
still i reach for hope and faith
in a Father who never abandons
or walks out
my husband holding my hand still
goes straight to my heart
i believe in the quiet of a moment,
given to a loving God
whose grace and goodness
overcome
still
“Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!” (Romans 15:13, The Message)
It’s hot chocolate and hearty soup weather – grab a cup, settle in a chair and join at Heading Home with Kate. Take five minutes and write on . . . Still
What a lovely post. God is so worthy of our faith. On those hard days, it does require faith and trust in His faithfulness to continue reaching for hope. God bless you. #FMFparty

So lovely. And, anything with Romans 15.13 just screams HOPE. Visiting from Winsome Wednesday.
There is such joy and peace in this post, dear friend. I’m just resting in the gift you offer here.
I love this simple but oh so sweet recounting of the blessings in your life, Maryleigh! I find it’s the simple blessings that mean the most but are often most overlooked! I hope your book is selling like hotcakes! Oooh, now doesn’t that sound good? I think I need to eat some breakfast! ha! Hugs to you, sweet friend!
