My little guy found a praying mantis snacking on a grasshopper from his walk from the school bus to the front door.
“Mom! Mom! You gotta see this!
In the midst of my own challenges,
I discovered I was greatful
that I was not a grasshopper
grasped by a praying mantis
who was altogether too confident
no one was going to steal his snack
and no matter how frustrated I was with life struggles
I was not the grasshopper
I was not created to be the grasshopper!
“God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground” (Genesis 1:28)
Ergo, God must have equipped me with knowledge, wisdom, strength, courage, leadership, discernment, followship (yes, a new blue cotton word), and everything else it takes to rule
over every living creature
even the grasshopper and the praying mantis
so, inside of me, must be what I need
to successfully rule over my life.
He did not create me to be the grasshopper
caught in the grip of the praying mantis of life.
Gorgeous post! I loved the photography and the Prose (I think that’s what you call it) Anyway I loved what you said. It teaches that we all need to look inside ourselves to the gifts that God gave us and bring them out. We were not meant to cower under life’s pressures. He gave us dominion over the earth, so we need to act like it. I think this is one of my shortest comments I’ve ever written! LOL! But I feel satisfied that I said what God wanted me to say.
God bless!

Oh I do get your point so clearly, dear Maryleigh.
I am definitely not a grasshopper at the mercy of a praying mantis.
How easy it is to make excuses, blame another person, blame the environment, blame the government… point a finger at our genetic disposition, or one’s upbringing… and live out a subtle message, “I’m a victim of my circumstances.”
Oh, no…that is a big, fat lie. Sadly though, many buy it. And if we do, we never move up higher.
I have seen this in my own life… and I don’t want to stay in a rut. I’ll claim my inheritance and move on!
Thanks for this thought provoking post, dear friend.

Great pictures. Wise words. Love it!
Have a beautiful week.
A thoughtful post. And a good sentiment to take with me today.
This is wonderful. I am glad he created me to be me and still guides me each day.
