♥ Learning to Read Books

 Someone asked me if I wanted anymore children.  I said, “I’ve taught all my children to read and swim.  If I had anymore children, they’d be illiterate and drown.” 

My recipe for teaching to read is as follows:

1)  Learn vowels

2) Learn Consonants

3)  Bob Books, set 1

4) Now I’m Reading, set 1

Bob Books  by Bobby Lynn Maslen

Small books that build phonetic reading skills in small bites.  This is a solid foundational springboard.

 

 

 

Now I’m Reading, Levels 1, 2, and 3 by Nora Gaydos

While Bob books are somewhat dry but quite effective, Gaydos’ Now I’m Reading books are full of color, fun, and stickers.  We loved this skill builder book!  They couldn’t wait to pull it out!
