There are so many inspiring, encouraging blogs that I have read since I joined the blogahood in May 2009. They literally strengthened me when I felt weak from too many challenges, lifted me up when I was down, encouraged me, fed me spiritually – and I left their blogs feeling stronger, encouraged, full of hope. Some seemed like messages from God – and I think that is one of the beautiful things about our blogahood. So many women share the best of what is in their hearts to help encourage other women stuggling with the same things. It is a beautiful exchange, an exchange of grace. And, as I went through a lot of struggles this year – moving our family into a new state – definitely out of our comfort zone, the death of a loved one, my husband working out of state/country most of the time, and teen challenges – I was blessed by so many of you.
And I wanted to create an award – not one that you have to work hard to pass to a lot of people – though they are fun and encouraging – but one that just said, “Thank you! You blessed me! You fed me when I was weak.” So I created The Bread Basket Award, to be given out monthly to a blogger who feeds us when we are hungry for support, encouragement, inspiration, laughter.
You might be thinking, “Who is Blue Cotton Memory to create an award?” – Well, I thought so, too – but since Words of Affirmation are my Love Language – and I so wanted to bless these blogs that give so much to us – I did – as a hug of gratitude for what they did for me.

Thank you for blessing me so much this past year!
Good morning sister. Just being nourished and fed by “blogs for the soul” like what your post said. As I try to recover my strength and physical healing. I just want to greet you a blessed week and yes, I agree with you. So many blogs that nourish our spirits and deep inside, I know, too that the Lord uses so many of His blogging children to lift each other up. Sister Lidj’s posts always strengthen my walk and her love for the Lord inspires me. Congratulations to her and may the Lord bless you more and other sisters/bros. in Christ … You have revealed your heart of gratitude and as you bless others, may the Lord return that favor to you.
Love the new award. So many times i get excited about an award given, but it quickly turns to guilt because i don’t have time to pass it along seven times. Love this idea.
Thank you for the last comment you sent my way. You are a blessing!
hope you are having a great week.
Dear ML…
This is so unexpected, and what a delight you have brought to my heart. What a creative way of blessing a fellow blogger. What a honor, though surely the glory belongs to God our Father. He’s the One Who has been my inspiration in all that I write. My only desire is that through the ups and downs of life that I write about, others will see how God has guided me, protected me, and changed me.
Much love to you, and again, I appreciate it. It is such an encouragement.

Great idea! I love the idea of a bread basket for your award. Encouragement is a form of nourishment for the soul.
Beautiful idea.
How wonderful to create an award to bless others! I love the purpose of your blog award and especially its name!
I am off to check out the first blogger honored with such a wonderful gift!
What a great idea. You are an inspiration yourself!
Such a creative award, for we all certainly need to be fed at times.
This is my first visit to your blog. But I wanted to stop by to say hi after you gave this special blog award to Lidj of Crown of Beauty. She is such a blessing to many, including me. So glad you gave her that award.
Blessings,
Debbie
