The last few days of my father-in-law’s life was spent in a Hospice facility. What did I learn about Hospice?
Big rooms to hold a big family
sparkly clean and warm
Big hearts in support staff
caring, helping, caring, understanding, caring
Family rooms, rooms to pray
coffee shops with free coffee to help you keep up your energy,
60 cent soft drinks,
plenty of places to sit,
a peaceful spirit enveloping
and a dog
Hospice ? – a waiting room to heaven!
Thank you Hospice!
That sounds like a gentle place to deal with a hardship.
The people that work at Hospice that I’ve ever met are just angels on earth too….
Oh, that’s great. It really does make it easier. We had in-home hospice for my father-in-law….well, they weren’t that nice or helpful at all — which just helped make a stressful situation even more stressful!
Stopping by from SITS. You have a beautiful blog!
I’m sorry for your loss. Hospice provides an amazing serivce, and brings so much comfort to people.
I am glad that they took such good care of all of you! Still praying for your family.
I have some bloggy love for you over at my place. 🙂
I like your analogy of Hospice as a waiting room to heaven. Sounds like your experience was a good one with it. I find it interesting they had a dog too. I know having a pet would make me feel happier if I were in a place like that.
Visiting from SITS.
The people that work at hospice must be amazing! I’m glad they were able to help.
good to hear and know!!! How have you been? stop by
Last November my mom was in hospice for a couple of days before she died. You described hospice perfectly! I’m so sorry for your loss.
Hospice really was a saving grace when my Uncle passed away from cancer. I could not have put into words what you have just expressed. Thank you.
My grandfather spent his last days in hospice. I am a nurse, but I was truly in awe of the nurses and other staff members there. It was such a caring and warm place.
Your words about it are beautiful.

My mom was in Hospice also, and I was truly grateful for the care she received.

I’ll be back!!

Thank you for sharing such a personal and uplifting story! Hospice makes such a tremendous difference for patients and families in so many ways. As you showed, all the little things can be so big.
I’m glad hospice care made such a positive impression on you. Through your words, it will do the same for others.
