This week, I have that caterpillar-in-a-cocoon feeling again, where I just want to pull the blanket of my family close about me.
What I thought was a pulled muscle – for a whole year – from exercising is really a gallbladder just dying to come out . That’s happening at the end of the week. Yes, I hear it is a piece of cake thing – but, well, it has worn me out, all the uncomfortableness – so this week, I am going to wrap myself in my family, get the house straight because for some reason I want to do that, spend time with the Father who tells me:
“I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you.’
Don’t panic. I’m with you.
There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.
I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you.
I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you”(Isaiah 41: 9-10)
My youngest son this weekend jokingly accused me of dropping him on his head. I remember how careful I was not drop any of them on their head. Fearful, almost of that dropping. This particular son, though, managed to turn himself upside down twice in a rocker/stroller.
“No, you did that to yourself,” I laughed back, a bit mortified but realizing that parenting is imperfect, unlike God’s parenting.
Sometimes, we do that, don’t we – get ourselves turned upside down – not really meaning to but there we are anyway – upside down.
Yet God, He promises He won’t drop us. Reminds us that He hasn’t yet dropped us. If, by unfortunate happenstance, we find ourselves, upside down, we are NOT to panic . . . Not to let fear run amuck.
He’s got me. He’s got you. He’ll hold both of us steady with a firm grip.
Oh, how I like that this week. He’s got me. He’s holding me steady – and all I see in my head is my son when he was little soothed, comforted, all put back together, smiling with delight that I’m holding him steady so he can walk on those legs that just can’t quite do it on their own yet.
He’s holding me like that this week! I pray you let Him hold you like that this week, too – whatever your challenge. Whatever your fear. Believe that He holds you. Believe He won’t drop you!
Believe
I do, even if I feel like being in a caterpillar-in-a-cocoon frame of mind.
Wishing you blessing this week, a journey of 1,000 blessings, sweet gifts He leaves with us to remind us that He is right beside us. I’m going to collect mine and preserve them to share later.

I will be praying for you. I know HE’s got you. I like this;
“He’s got me. He’s got you. He’ll hold both of us steady with a firm grip.”
That is so good!
Blessings…Chelle
Thanks, Chelle! I am so excited about how I’ll be feeling next Monday! LOL – it’s just getting there! Your prayers are such a blessing! Thank you:) Maryleigh
Oh so sorry to hear about your gallbladder…prayer for quick recovery and healing…may you feel His arms holding you…blessings to you~
Thanks, Ro! Wishing they had come up with a better name for the gallbladder – everytime I say it, I feel like I need to add 50 more years on to my age! LOL This week, I’m feeling Him pulling me into His arms and just to quiet myself there. The power of prayer never ceases to amaze me!
Praying this time of ‘calm’ healing and quiet will be a good thing. Pain is not good, be kind to yourself and rest.
Why is it that we fear God will drop us when He’s proven Himself faithful time after time? I know that I struggle to trust, but as you’ve so eloquently pointed out, “He holds me.” I’ll take that encouragement and stand stronger today! Thanks so much for this beautiful word!
{Melinda} Thank you for this post this morning. I really needed to hear that message in the depths of my soul.
I’m saying a prayer for you before I leave your blog for your healing and restored health. My blogging partner had gallbladder surgery a couple of months ago and was sore, but came through beautifully. Praying for a complication-free recovery for you as well.
Yup. It’s a fairly easy procedure with quick recovery time. I’m sorry you’re in pain. Praying that God will guide all the hands that attend you and you will have little pain and a quick recovery. May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort.
Friend, I needed that Isaiah 41 scripture! Beautiful and straight to my fearful and panicked heart today. So thankful God holds us!!! Blessings.

Dear Mary Leigh
What a comfort this post has been to me, and to know that your words are written from a woman who has been in pain gives them more authority. How reassuring to hear the Father say to me as well – “Ive got you covered, and I’m holding you, I’m not letting go.”
Whatever the situation, whatever uncertainty you and I are facing…
I’ll be praying for you as the procedure is done, that your recovery will be complete and quick, and that it will bring you relief.
Much love
Lidia
So glad relief is in sight for you. Enjoy the downtime of recovery
Uggh.. sorry to hear about your gallbladder. So glad there is a “fix” for that! I’m smiling at your son’s accusation. And sorry to say, I have a few in my clan that HAVE been dropped on their heads- not by Mom, but by a big sibling. GOod to know that God won’t drop me on mine
Thanks for this encouragement. I’ve prayed for a smooth & effective surgery, no complications, quick recovery, and that the whole process will just be a minor blip on your radar.
PS: I didn’t exactly drop my boys upside down, but they were both a little prone to skydiving….
Upside down, I think it’s by grandson’s favorite place to be whether hanging from a tree limb or the couch or supported by his father. Praying that you will discover unexpected blessings as you rest knowing your Heavenly Father is holding you safely and securely. Blessings.

I am praying for your surgery, friend. Little things are often bigger than we think when mom is involved
. Rest in that cocoon. Hugs to you.
Oh I wish I had read this at the beginning of the week. But I will save it for another time. I’m sure I’ll need it.
Praying for a quick recovery and that the Lord will continue to pour His love on you.
