Winter is late.
The snow hasn’t come yet.
I am
waiting.
The Daffodils and lilies arrive
too early
not suspecting
Mother Nature trickery
in a mercury messaged
invitation
and their stems climb out
of their warm brown covers
turning their hope
to an unreliable sun
so vulnerable, so unprepared
for Winter coming late
Even Dogwood Blossoms
are deceived
with these sun signs and
mercury tricks
Wouldn’t at least
the dogwood
know
with the story of our Savior
imprinted on the fibers
of its design,
that signs and seasons
are unreliable
time clocks
for announcing
jobs and tasks,
like blooming and snow fall,
seed time and salvation
Unlike winter
God is never
late
Unlike rising mercury in January
God does not deceive or lead
falsely
God is never
surprised
about disappointments and troubles
we find ourselves
in
He is never
late
to redeem us from
our rushings into places
not ready for us
or maybe
places and tasks
we are not
yet
ready for
Only we are surprised,
disappointed,
our budding faith
nipped
by trusting in sun signs
and mercury
instead of God Words
God Whisperings
God always plans
Time to grow
into
His plans
for our lives
seed time
and harvesting.
“He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1: 7-8)

have a great Sunday!
Thank you for the gentle reminder that God has a season and purpose for everything. I just need to keep the faith and know He is in control.
Blessings~
These words really hist me. I struggle with winter and actually write a number of posts about that in Jan. Your poem is a keeper!
I’ve been thinking about these things quite a bit lately–God’s time, my time. You’re right. He’s never late. Blessings to you on this Sabbath.
I am sitting on my back porch with the windows open throughout my house today. Noticed my Lenten rose already budding and so thankful for the surprise and God’s perfect timing.
Wonderful blog, and awesome writing.
Winter arrived here yesterday – with a blast. And yes, late. It was 70 degrees earlier this week and now we have eight inches of beautiful snow. Unpredictable, indeed.
Beautiful post …Indeed in His time!!
Such a lovely, prayerful poem! I adored the imagery and the emotions provoked. I especially loved this line because I remembering experiencing it and becoming confused:
“Only we are surprised,
disappointed,
our budding faith
nipped”
Beautiful! Lovely reminder that God is always on time.
Our little valley has also fallen prey to winter’s sneakiness. We have yet to have a significant snowfall. This morning, the hoarfrost was so thick–I couldn’t resist slipping out there to take those photos I posted at he blog today. But here we are in the afternoon with temps near 50f. It has been a strange winter for sure. And, though God is a mystery in many ways, your words here remind that He is always faithful. Lovely words today
.
I am so glad he is on time! I would love it if winter made a short appearance her in the form of snow.
I am so thankful for this reminder today. He is never late.
Beautiful! Reminded me of the scripture “and the rocks will cry out”… Beautiful poem !
I’ve about decided we’re not going to have a winter this year. It’s been in the 70s every day this month. 79 is forecast for tomorrow. I like this post. I like to remember that God is never late. Sometimes we may think He is, but He knows exactly what He’s doing and His timing is perfect.
Thank you for sharing on Spiritual Sundays.
Blessings,
Charlotte
As we always say, we have an “ON TIME GOD”. His timing is perfect. What a beautiful post!
God Bless,
